Located in Aguilar, Colorado, at 146 West Main St., this small public library is open from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm every Tuesday,Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Wednesdays. We are closed Sunday and Monday.

In the late 1960's , the Aguilar community with a US Department of Labor Jobs and Training Program called, Operation Mainstream, re-purposed what was once the Morris Pitti Opera House into a community center and, utilizing over 50,000 red bricks from the top floor walls, the public library attached to the east side.

For the past half century the library has been lovingly managed by a local board of trustees and various dedicated library directors. The Town of Aguilar has staunchly supported this library financially, and owns and maintains the buildings.

To visit, take Highway 25 in southern Colorado, exit on either Aguilar exit. Drive into town and turn west on Main St. The last building on the south side of Main is the Library and Community Center.
